Major libSDL performance problems on SuSE 10.1 Beta1 x86-64

Hello, I've encountered an extremely degraded performance for all SDL based applications / games on 10.1 Beta1. Drawing the application window is so slow that one can watch it being drawn from top to bottom. An game where this can be observed are for example Battle for Wesnoth. Just start the game and observe the title screen: it takes perhaps 0.1 - 0.2 seconds to be drawn instead of being there instantaneously. But all other SDL based games behave the same, even the sample-applications of SDL itself. Can others confirm this behaviour? I'm running the supplied radeon-driver on an ATI RV350 (Radeon 9600). Does this happen with other platforms / graphics drivers too ? This doesn't occur on my Debian system, which also uses X.Org 6.9.0 with Radeon-driver on x86-64, so it's somehow SuSE related. KDE blootooth depencies

Hello, with an older SUSE version, I had problems using bluetooth:/ in Konqueror - it found a friend's mobile phone, but showed only an empty file list for it. It turned out that the backend applications (obexftp etc. - just search for bluetooth in YaST sw_single) were not installed - but there was no warning in Konqueror and no package depency that installed the required packages automatically. Unfortunately, I don't have a bluetooth device to do tests and therefore can't test if this problem is still existent in 10.1 beta. Can someone test it, please? Here's how to reproduce: - uninstall all bluetooth-related packages (search for "bluetooth" in Yast), except the kdebluetooth package, and do not break depencies, of course - enter bluetooth:/ in Konqueror, connect to a device that offers files to download - check if any of the files are displayed in Konquerors file listing If you get an empty list without any error message, the bug is still there. nfsv4 README.SUSE

I had to do several steps to use nfsv4 in SUSE. There is not much documentation around nfsv4 at the time. Maybe it could be helpful to write a README.SUSE so that more people could use/test nfsv4. Comments welcome! 1. First set up some principal and made a keytab (/etc/krb5.keytab) for the server and client host/<FQDN> and nfs/<FQDN> (des-cbc-crc:normal only) 2. Activated nfs4 and gss in /etc/sysconfig/nfs 3. Had to make a missing directoy:.mkdir /var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs/nfs (BUG?!) 4. Edited /etc/exports: added /home gss/krb5 (rw,fsid=0,insecure,no_subtree_check) 5. Then I had to load some modules modprobe auth_rpcgss rpcsec_gss_krb5 . Also added this to MODULES_LOADED_ON_BOOT to the file /etc/sysconfig/kernel 6. ln -s /usr/lib/libgssapi_krb5.so.2 /usr/lib/libgssapi_krb5.so or edit /etc/gssapi_mech.conf 8. Changed localhost to my domain name in /etc/idmap.conf 9. Started all needed Daemons nfsserver, idmap, svcgssd at the server and idmap and gssd at the client 10. Mounted the Partition: mount -t nfs4 -o sec=krb5 beta:/ /nfs/beta/ -- Greetings/Grüße, Marcel

Could'nt find boot.coldplug in beta1

I have a problem that comes from the update from alpha 2 to 3, and the last weekend I upgraded to beta 1, and the problem continues. I opened the bug 144652, and I have no adecuate response. Other user has comment the same problem with alpha 3: http://lists.opensuse.org/archive/opensuse-factory/2005-Nov/0009.html After the last upgrade to beta1, I try to reinstall preload, and I got: 1:Installing preload ###################################################################################### [100%] Output from preload-0.2-7@i586: insserv: Service boot.coldplug has to be enabled for service boot.preload insserv: exiting now! error: %post(preload-0.2-7.i586) scriptlet failed, exit status 1 I do'nt find boot.coldplug, in /etc/init.d In what package are the script boot.coldplug ? qtcurve, a replacement for gtk_qt_engine

Hi there, I was looking around the last few days for a replacement for the (my opinion) crappy gtk_qt_engine. As far as I know this package is unmaintained at freedesktop.org and creates a lot of problems (like with eclipse, which I use permanently). Besides when using GTK-based apps under KDE with gtk_qt_engine, they look very [CENSORED] in many ways. I found the very promising project qtcurve (http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=5065) which provides a unified widget theme engine for QT, GTK2 and GTK1. There are binary packages for Suse at Guru's RPM page (http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-navigation.php?cat=/Themes/qtcurve) After some testing I think this is a very good replacement for gtk_qt_engine and I would like to vote for inclusion of this package into one of the next Suse/openSUSE releases. Hello all I tried (unsucessfully) to compile the vmmon modules using both with VMware-workstation-5.5.1-19175.i386.rpm and vmware-any-any-update94 using linux 2.6.15-git12-6-default SUSE kernel It errors out. I was wondering if anyone else has been to install VMware-workstation-5.5 on SUSE 10.1 B1? I haven't had much time to research the problem but I did post extracts of the error messages over at the vmware community. Hi, Fetchmail 6.3.1 was released a couple of days ago. I haven't seen a security update for SUSE 10.0 yet and havent found a new src rpm on: http://ftp.opensuse.org/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-sourc… so I can build it myself easily.
