Dear Package maintainers and hackers. Below package(s) in openSUSE:Factory have been failing to build for at least 4 weeks. We tried to send out notifications to the configured bugowner/maintainers of the package(s), but so far no fix has been submitted. This probably means that the maintainer/bugowner did not yet find the time to look into the matter and he/she would certainly appreciate help to get this sorted. - ppl-testsuite - python-pyuv Unless somebody is stepping up and submitting fixes, the listed package(s) are going to be removed from openSUSE:Factory. [opensuse-factory] Leap 15.2 unusable due to SSL hell - Chromium, Firefox, Thunderbird broken

Hi, I've reported issues in SSL handling before which cause tools to hang and cause port 443 RSTs in the tcpdump. Since 2017 I maintain a custom osc SSL patch/fix package. Leap 15.0 didn't even install without a libcurl fix for zypper. But my patches fixing SSL handling in those tools haven't been accepted although they are correct. After the upgrade to Leap 15.2, I had so unfortunate timing with my fast LAN/cable modem based internet connection that Firefox and Chromium couldn't load any tabs any more (all of them hanging in SSL handling). I've removed the ad blocker and Firefox didn't even start any more. I've executed "firefox -d gdb" and noticed that it crashes with a SEGFAULT in SSL handling at startup. Then I wanted to write this email and I noticed that Thunderbird was not able to download any email and the email window where I started writing crashed. My employer forces me to use Chromium/Chrome due to the need for a special plugin. So I've installed the Epiphany browser to download latest Chrome. That one is really fast in loading https websites. I tested latest Chrome and that one is also not able to load any HTTPS website tab. Also RSTs in the tcpdump. So Leap 15.2 is unusable for me. I've rolled back to the full disk backup before upgrading. I cannot fix SSL handling in three complex tools at once all by myself. For me it looks like I have to reinstall a distro as a workaround and I would choose Ubuntu as I can easily skip a faulty release there and can stay longer on a proper one. Using wireless connections with unpredictable high latency and harmful pulsed microwave radiation as a workaround is no option for me. Any chance to extend Leap 15.1 support until 15.3 release? IMHO an SSL stability initiative is required - even independent of vendors. If anybody else noticed slow browser tabs, slow https file downloads, slow email downloads, or plain hanging, then I'd be glad to team up to join forces against SSL network state machine violations. Hello openSUSE! I've mentioned on my yesterday's talk "Why should be companies be interested in Leap Next" that there is only a bunch of changes in between Leap Next and SLE 15. I spent today a bit of time on putting this together https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Jump/Leap15.2.1:Forks I believe that's it for Jump (15.2.1) based on reviewing all the JIRA features that I created based on my diff/research effort earlier this year. Feature diff in openSUSE Leap 15.3 should be limited only to rejected SLE features, which are listed with "No." in the last column. Let me know if you think it's detailed enough. However people who run kiwi on the commandline and have selected --type vmx before now end with an error message saying that there is no vmx type because it was converted into an oem type. This makes sure the module is included in any grub-mkimage that KIWI does. Fixes #1547 - Make oem be a superset of vmx A vmx image is the same disk as an oem just without the dracut repart/resize feature. This difference is better handled with an oemconfig parameter <oem-resize> which allows to switch resize on or off. The extra image type vmx will be dropped and an XSLT stylesheet automatically transforms a vmx description to be a oem image with the resize feature switched off. This Fixes #1425 - Make oem image use dracut by default Before this commit an oem image still had the kiwi initrd_system set as default. As we are decommission the custom kiwi initrd concept the default should be changed. It is still possible to use a custom kiwi initrd but it needs to be explicitly requested via the initrd_system="kiwi" attribute. In addition to the changed default a runtime check was introduced that checks the presence of the boot= attribute which only makes sense in combination with the kiwi initrd_system. If boot= is set but initrd_system="kiwi" is not, a message is raised that explains the situation and either requests setting initrd_system properly or deleting the boot attribute. The change only affects people who still use oem with a boot="oemboot/..." setting and no explicit selection of kiwi as the initrd_system. As these image type configurations should not be in use anyway because this is all legacy and announced to go away, we need to make the next step and enforce a new default in code. This Fixes bsc#1175729 and bsc#1176134 - Explicitly set start sector for msdos repartition When using the sfdisk(>=2.26) tool the start and end of partitions aligns to block-device I/O limits. This means it's hardware specific what values sfdisk picks. In a repart operation this is however dangerous for the start sector which must be the same to prevent corruption of the data in the partition when kiwi resizes it. Therefore this commit uses the sfdisk dump command to read the start sector for deleted partitions and uses that start sector if the same partition gets recreated such that only the end of the partition changes and gets aligned properly. In KIWI the locale setting happens before running `config.sh` so there aren't changes to generate any custom locale before applying the value configured in the description XML file. - Fixed legacy custom kiwi initrd based image builds This patch is two fold: * Image builds that uses the kiwi initrd system did not apply the grub config file fixes because the root= parameter is an optional information when using a kiwi initrd. However this information is required to apply the grub config file fixes.
