[opensuse-factory] OpenSUSE Leap 42.2 with the amdgpu-pro 16.60 (amdgpu-pro-dkms) fails to play any video with any player

I have a video card Gigabyte R9 380X and in the test of it get goods results with glmark2 and with Unigine Valley Benchmark 1.0 FPS:62.2 Score:2604 Min FPS:24.2 Max FPS:114.0 System Platform: Linux 4.4.57-18.3-default x86_64 CPU model:AMD FX-8320E Eight-Core Processor (3214MHz) x8 GPU model:Unknown GPU (256MB) x1 Settings Render: OpenGL Mode:1920x1080 fullscreen Preset Custom Quality High But when I try to play a video with VLC (invoqued from konsole to see whats happen) I get this error: VLC media player 2.2.4 Weatherwax (revision 2.2.3-37-g888b7e89) [000055d54317d0c8] core libvlc: Ejecutar vlc con la interfaz predeterminada. [opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed: Can't switch screens with CTRL+ALT+Fn and other weirdness...

Hi, Lenovo W520, Tumbleweed, nouveau driver, tried various combinations of zypper up/dup/dup --no-allow-vendor-change to no avail. Starting from the GUI (kdm, KDE) if I try to switch screens with CTRL+ALT+F1/2/3/4/5/6 the GUI stays displayed but the mouse and keyboard don't work until I do a CTRL+ALT+F7. This happens right from the login page, before I've logged in. If I boot to Runlevel 3 then it all switches properly as expected. init 5 to the GUI and it breaks and behaves as above. Back to Runlevel 3 and we're good again. An extra issue (probably related) is that if powersave kicks in and blanks the screen, when I come back, I'm left with a blank screen and a mouse pointer. I have to ssh in from somewhere else and systemctl restart display-manager to get my desktop back. I'm not sure when this started. It was a few updates ago. I'd been hoping that a later update would fix this, but not so far. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks, Marcus.

Apparently after updating the repository KDE:Extra of Tumbleweed and refreshing the local storage using zypper, zypper asks again for acceptance of the gpg-pubkey, which I do using the always option. The issue was already reported here- https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1023819 The suggested fix was "sudo chmod 4750 /usr/lib/virtualbox/VBoxNetNAT " which didn't work for me , so how do i proceed further with this temporary fix ? Due to the update of ImageMagick to version 7 the configury of emacs-25.2 does not recognize the presence of the library anymore -- it searches for a module "Wand" and only "MagickWand" is provided. Additionally, the new headers have a different V7 ABI. [opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed hardly shows splash screen during boot

Some month ago when booting Tumbleweed the splash screen with the eternity symbol was shown. Nowadays first a lot of messages about the boot process are shown but hardly anything of the splash screen. I would like to have the option not see these messages. Hi, due to the results of a recent security audit for the package Archiving:Backup/backintime the SUSE security team wants to make everyone aware how to deal with security related rpmlint messages in packages. If during the build of a package messages like these turn up: - backintime-qt4.noarch: E: suse-dbus-unauthorized-service - backintime-qt4.noarch: I: polkit-untracked-privilege net.launchpad.backintime.qt4gui then these packages must not be accepted into openSUSE:Factory before the security team reviewed the package. After successful review the dbus services / polkit rules in question will be whitelisted by us and the rpmlint messages disappear. These messages *must not* be disabled via the rpmlintrc file of the package. Please don't create or accept such submissions. DBus services and polkit rules can easily create loopholes in the distribution, thus we need to review them before taking them in. In case of backintime the package slipped into factory, leap 42.{1,2} (messages disabled via rpmlintrc) and only now we've found security implications.
