[opensuse-factory] Bug-system login gone kah-foo-ii again: please allow user to 'stay logged in' for 30 days or more

W/R/T bugzilla and logging in. Would it be possible to extend the time one is logged-in to 30 days from last activity (with option to 'log off'). I know other secure(https) sites that allow one to remain logged-in, some for multiple months, some without a stated limit, etc. It's a hindrance to people using suse logins to any of the opensuse or suse sites. I wanted to check on a bug's status that I'd updated yesterday, but was already logged out. It wouldn't be so bad if my login+password could be \allowed\ to be remembered as many other secure sites allow (amazon and my HMO's website), but maintaining the "logged-in" state and for how-many days could be a part of a user's profile. But meanwhile, extending the cookie expiration to "current-date+30" every time a user visits the site would be a great help. It would at least allow me to be "logged in", which I don't seem to be able to do, right now (though I was yesterday). Instead, I get taken to "https://esp.microfocus.com/nesp/idff/metadata" where it displays an unstyled XML document beginning with: This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below. <md:EntityDescriptor id="0000-11110222-3333" providerID="https://esp.microfocus.com:443/nesp/idff/metadata"> <md:SPDescriptor id="abcde-xyz" protocolSupportEnumeration="urn:liberty:iff:2003-08"> <md:KeyDescriptor use="signing"> ... ---- Perhaps needless to say, but this prevents me from logging in again and has happened more than once in the past, sometimes with it not allowing me to login for months. If bugzilla and other suse+opensuse sites would allow me to remain logged in, then it wouldn't be so much of an issue. Normally we use update channel for emergency, so we have kernel*-4.9.0-2.1 in. But usually there's an update coming again in oss, (which allow software depending on to build on the right version) I've certainly missed the incoming queue for a new build of. [opensuse-factory] Dropping of gstreamer-0_10 from Factory

Dear Tumbleweed users, For the last few months, several people have worked on porting packages dependent on gstreamer v0.10 to updated gstreamer 1.x, and we are left with only a few (unmaintained by upstream?) packages in Factory which are still dependent on the old version and are not portable in a straightforward way. These are (apart from gstreamer-0_10 plugins): * freqtweak * ignuit * kde3-kaffeine * kdemultimedia3 * libucil * moodbar * morituri * pgadmin3 * psi+-plugins-psimediaplugin * python-gstreamer-0_10 * sffview * wxWidgets * wxWidgets-ansi * wxWidgets-wxcontainer * xfce4-mixer * xfce4-volumed I would like to now (in a couple of days) file drop requests for the entire gstreamer-0_10 stack for openSUSE:Factory. This is a consequence of the lack of upstream support for gstreamer < 1.0 (GStreamer 1.0 was released on September 24, 2012), which makes, for instance, security issues such as [1] difficult to track and fix. Having this in the Tumbleweed distro is therefore ill-advised. For Leap starting with 42.3 and beyond, we are, of course, dependent on SUSE for decisions relating to the dropping of gst 0.10, and I understand that it is expected to be maintained at least for the life- times of 42.x releases (please correct me if I am wrong). To summarise, the gstreamer version 0.10.x stack (zypper se gstreamer- 0_10*) will soon be dropped from Factory, which will thereafter only carry upstream maintained stable releases of gstreamer 1.x. If you are a maintainer of any of the above pkgs, please consider patching your app to work with gstreamer 1.x to prevent them from becoming "unresolvable" soon. [opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed replacing php5 with php7

I just tried to update a Tumbleweed install. It now wants to remove php5 and install php7. I have no php7 at all installed. Only php5. Why would it do this? zypper says: The following 12 NEW packages are going to be installed: apache2-mod_php7 kernel-default-4.9.0-2.1 php7 php7-ctype php7-dom php7-iconv php7-json php7-pdo php7-sqlite php7-tokenizer php7-xmlreader php7-xmlwriter The following 11 packages are going to be REMOVED: apache2-mod_php5 php5 php5-ctype php5-dom php5-iconv php5-json php5-pdo php5-sqlite php5-tokenizer php5-xmlreader php5-xmlwriter I can't think I want this. The only thing that should be changing is that the modesetting driver will be enabled by default. If desired or necessary, you will still be able to configure the intel DDX to be used instead, via a snippet file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/) or full-blown xorg.conf. [opensuse-factory] Switch from intel to modesetting with xserver 1.19 in Tumbleweed?

Dear List, in the news yesterday is Fedora Rawhide switching to the generic modesetting driver in favor of intels DDX [1]. Modesetting is said to be more stable, while 2D performance compared to glamor is worse in few areas [2]. There was also no official intel-DDX release in 2 years, no stable one in 3 years. Ubuntu 16.10 and Debian Unstable (July 2016) also did the switch for Intel "Gen4" hardware and newer (anything past the i965GM era) [3] As xserver 1.19 is still baking for tumbleweed - are there plans that we also make the switch when it lands? [opensuse-factory] mozilla-kde4-integration looking for a developer

Hi, mozilla-kde4-integration is an integration helper for Mozilla applications currently being used by Firefox and Thunderbird to improve desktop integration into KDE. I'm currently more or less the package maintainer but the original author was a KDE contributor who left the project meanwhile. I'm not involved in KDE development so I can maintain the package but I cannot improve nor rewrite it to fit further changes in our underlying platform. Meanwhile we start suffering from its age and its design which was done for KDE4 while we are on 5 meanwhile. We have some bugs open (or closed): https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1008718 https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1018672 which could use some love from someone taking over kind of responsibility for the package and try to bring it to the next level. Therefore I and the openSUSE project is looking for someone who can takeover that responsibility. The only alternative I have along the way is to drop the package and the integrations within Firefox/Thunderbird which leaves it with worse KDE integrations. Hi! Is it only me or does anybody else suffer constant akonadi crashes on a current TW? Just now in the bottom line of kmail I got the message: "Unable to fetch item from backend (collection -1): Unable to retrieve item from resource: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken." And thousands of complaints: »org.kde.pim.akonadicore: Got a stale notification for an item which was already removed. 152705 "" « Restarting akonadi helps for a short period of time, seconds, maybe minutes. Then again mails won't be filtered or displayed, kmail fetches at random messages from server, which have already been downloaded at least once. Akonadi was working exactly until the TW update 20161217. I'd be very glad if somebody could do some maintenance. Was the latest kernel in tumbleweed compiled to support iptables time commands. I used: iptables -A FORWARD -d 10.0.0.2 -m time --timestart 10:00 --timestop 20:00 --weekdays Sun,Mon,Tue,Wed,Thu,Fri -j DROP The rule seems to insert correctly, but does not seem to work at run time.
