[opensuse-factory] net install with boot/i386/loader kernel fails to start up yast

I can boot the kernel+initrd and download the 6-part installation system, but a few seconds after it reports the terminal screen size, my monitor blanks and the system is hung. System is i386. Every other distro works fine on it. WinXP too. It's been like this for a week or so now. Will this be fixed for 11.3? [opensuse-factory] What about providing Release Notes also for LiveCDs?

Hi I'm wondering whether it wouldn't make sense to provide release notes also for openSUSE LiveCDs. I'm thinking about topics you need to know before running the LiveCD, e.g. to avoid a black screen with some graphics cards (boot option "nomodeset"). What do you think? Is anything already planned for 11.3? Or do we still rely on these "most annoying bugs" pages, which probably especially new users are never going to find? Best would be to see such release notes already when downloading the LiveCD image, i.e. accessible on the same page. Hi. M7 uses already new artwork theme for bootsplash. Suspend still uses theme from 11.2. Should i file a bug (i haven´t found filed the bug yet)? [opensuse-factory] Some rebuild statistics

Hi, http://www.suse.de/~coolo/factory/ shows some statistics about the rebuildtime of factory. You can see in the graph how many packages can build in parallel and how many are waiting for others to finish. As you can see, half the rebuild time we wait for OpenOffice - but note that this is not really true in practise as the real rebuild time is not dominated by the time OpenOffice builds, but by the time the many packages that _could_ build in parallel are build in the workers we have. So even if we could rebuild all packages with unlimited workers in 24 hours, in reality it takes at least 48 hours (which is the reason we usually only do it friday to sunday). The longest path worries me a lot though, but I have no good idea how to avoid e.g. swig being behind mysql. [opensuse-factory] Status on flicker-free boot for openSUSE 11.3

Dear Fellow Listmates, I was reviewing the booting of openSUSE Milestone 7 and I am still seeing flickering, then switching to black for at least 10 to 15 seconds. The first bootsplash shows a progress bar that goes to 50 percent, flickers, then goes to black. This is then followed by another bootsplash of a different color, that shows the percentage at about 20 percent that does not move for a number of seconds. Then it moves quickly. This is much slower than openSUSE 11.0 - 11.2. I thought there were a number of requests by many users in openFate and it was marked as "Done". Any way to improve the look and speed for RC1? Cheers! [opensuse-factory] Milestone 7, Laptop WLAN, Bug #591703

Hello! I have installed M7 on my T410s and now I am suffering from Bug #591703. I used YaST to swicth to NM and installed the firmware for WLAN (Intel 6300). When I boot with wired ethernet, everything seems to work fine: NM connects to my wired and wireless networks. However, when I boot without the wired ethernet connected, NM does not show any of the configured wireless connections and cannot connect when I try to set up the wireless connection again. Additionally, netconfig seems to conflict with NM, in /v/l/m I find: | linux dns-resolver: ATTENTION: You have modified /etc/resolv.conf. Leaving | it untouched... | linux dns-resolver: You can find my version in /etc/resolv.conf.netconfig Is there any way to fix the network setup until RC1 is released? (Sorry for the top posting) Why not add a menu entry in the boot screen that points to a Readme first text file that could contain the release notes? Hi there, I would like to request an addition of mdds library to the devel:libraries:c_c++ project. Mdds stands for Multi-Dimensional Data Structure, and is a collection of C++ templates that provide optimized storage and lookup of multi-dimensional data. I am the author and maintainer of this library, and I am willing to maintain this package for SUSE. I have already packaged this library, which is now sitting in my personal home project. I would like that moved into a more generic project, such as devel:libraries:c_c++.
