[opensuse-factory] Patch to load fglrx driver

I installed the fglrx driver with gcc44, and ati-driver-installer-9-8-x86.x86_64.run. If I try to load the fglrx module, I got: modprobe fglrx FATAL: Error inserting fglrx (/lib/modules/2.6.31-rc6-3-default/kernel/drivers/char/drm/fglrx.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) With dmesg I got: [ 4859.583742] fglrx: Unknown symbol find_task_by_vpid Searching with Google, I found that the function find_task_by_vpid was not more present in the Opensuse kernel, but they are a patch for this function: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commitdi… With this patch, I must to rebuild the kernel and modules. They are other patch to install the fglrx driver, but not from opensuse: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/29957902/fglrx-installer_8.632-0ubuntu2~dinxt… I opened in bugzilla the bug 535216: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=535216#c6 And the developers refused to transcribe or build a patch. What future has a distribution that does not allow to use the full power of hardware, and its developers wash their hands by blaming ATI, where the problem stems from a change in the kernel, and not in the driver? [opensuse-factory] rpm-4.7.1 installation problems

Hi, I tried to update rpm to 4.7.1 and zypper wants to remove the entire installation system including libzypp. Is this a transitory problem or a serious show stopping bug? [opensuse-factory] gnome accessibility broken in opensuse factory

Hi, A11y status of current factory: openSUSE-GNOME-LiveCD-i686-Build0246-Media.iso 1. Espeak package broken (doesn't output something through pulseaudio). 2. python-louis doesn't install the needed liblouis package 3. No braille in orca 4. orca can't be started because of missing louis stuff 5. no news from bug http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=508611 Is someone working on these problems? Hi. I have just installed Poedit 1.4.2-7.10 from /devel:/translation/openSUSE_Factory repo in Milestone 6 and i am not able to launch it. [opensuse-factory] M6 change in behaviour firewall/ssh

I always disable the firewall when I install openSUSE - with M6 I did the same, and got a little surprise when this meant sshd wasn't started. Hi! I have a few queries about 11.2 M6. 1) Adobe reader is at version 8.1.5 still, despite adobe officially providing version 9.1.2 with significant startup time improvement. Also bnc:- https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=528456 2)There is this feature request I made for 11.2, and has been marked as candidate. It deals with improvements to the main-menu in Gnome https://features.opensuse.org/306895 Despite the patch being available, even M6 has missed out on it. I hope these will be included for M7, but I am somewhat afraid that it is too late already for getting new packages and features in. Are these enhancements already dead for 11.2 then? It looks like it was already logout to gdm, but autologin after that. [opensuse-factory] Want to add KDE 4.3 to openSUSE 11.1 with existing KDE 3.5.10

Can the kde 4.3 openSUSE Live CD be used to add-on KDE 4.3 on a working openSUSE 11.1 installation (already has GNOME 2.24 & KDE 3.5) ? I do not want to do a fresh openSUSE installation from live cd. The KDE 4.3 Live CD page - (http://home.kde.org/~binner/kde-four-live/), does not have any information about this. Alternatively, has anyone tried the 1-click install <http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openS…> to add-on KDE 4.3 to openSUSE 11.1 with already-installed KDE 3.5.10 ? I recall sometime back there was big long-winded discussion about KDE 4.2/higher to add-on to earlier KDE 3.5 series. But no definite yes/no result from there.
