Hi ! I would like discuss a new idea: releasing openSUSE Alpha CDs/DVDs with debuginfo/symbols, so people will install that by default. That may ease reproduction of crashes. [opensuse-factory] new mysql bootscript to support the start of multiple database

Hi, anybody out there that want to test a new mysql rpm, that supports the start of multiple databases during system startup (and stop during shutdown)? The rpm and it's dependencies can be retrieved from this repository: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:/database:/mysql51/openSUS… The /etc/init.d/mysql script has 2 legs: - 1 with code that is currently in use - and a leg with the new code, that starts and stops multiple databases With a variable in /etc/sysconfig/mysql (or in the sysconfig editor Applications/Mysql) one can select which leg to use. To use the new code the variable MYSQLD_MULTI has to be set "yes". The code to start the multiple databases uses mysqld_multi that comes with the mysql code to start the databases. [opensuse-factory] Torrent creation for the Alpha1_Apha2 delta isos skipped again

As there are no torrents available for the delta ISOs again, it looks like whatever is used to create the torrents has skipped them again. Any ideas on when the torrents will actually be created and then distributed to the mirrors? [opensuse-factory] Better support for "restricted" software, installation, etc

I think it would be nice if openSuSE had better support for restricted codec. e.g.: MP3 and WMV. When using Ubuntu (only good thing about the distro, sorry to say) if I try to play MP3 file it will ask me if I want to load the add-on, ask for the administrator password and the codec is installed. In openSuSE while the process is relatively simple it is more complicated than it should be. When I try to play MP3 with AmaroK I am giving an alart which then takes me to a webpage (http://software.opensuse.org/codecs) which explains the licensing and then if I click through some more links I end up to http://opensuse-community.org/codecs-kde.ymp My question is why not take the user directly to the opensuse-community.org link and when YaST2 loads in the information page that is displayed explain the license issues there. [opensuse-factory] Error with PPD files and YaST

This is very curious. I am trying to setup a Lexmark T520 laserprinter. When I use the PPD from the Windows driver (the same PPD is also found here: ) in YasT it gives an error and does not permit use of the PPD file: Checking file "./LEXT520.PPD" ./LEXT520.PPD: FAIL **FAIL** BAD PSVersion - not "(string) int". REF: Pages 62-64, section 5.3. WARN File contains a mix of CR, LF, and CR LF line endings! WARN Non-Windows PPD files should use lines ending with only LF, not CR LF! WARN Obsolete PPD version 4.2! REF: Page 42, section 5.2. WARN Manufacturer required by PPD 4.3 spec. REF: Pages 58-59, section 5.3. WARN Duplex shares a common prefix with Duplexer REF: Page 15, section 3.2. 0 files passed Problem is its a valid PPD file and if I setup the printer with an http-browser at localhost:631 it works fine. Also I can not find any documentation about this error anyplace on the internet. Acrobat Reader 8 is out, but on openSUSE NON OSS repo I see only version 7. Does it mean that acroread package will not be updated for 10.3 final? Thanks! -- Igor Jagec
