[opensuse-factory] 11.1beta 2 Live CD(er DVD)

Downloaded x86_64 version w/o incident and burned to dvd. Booted my wife's windoz infected Toshiba Satellite after choosing screen size which would not match hardware. Had to configure the wide screen as wide mode was not available from boot screen, but was only a minor inconvenience. Attached to my wireless wpa network after intering the plain text secret phrase. 30 seconds later had network access. Surfed and played around for about 30 minutes and *everything* I tried worked. Changed desktop theme oxygen, used firefox, konqueror, dolphin, yast2, kedit and xterm besides the knetworkmanager and all performed as expected. The new widgets, etc...., may take a little learning and getting used to but appear quite functional. >From what I experienced I must commend the opensuse team. GREAT JOB so far. note: my server is still on 10.1 x86_64 which has been very solid. [opensuse-factory] 11.1beta 2 install only partily boots

Hi . Well i though i would have a look at 11.1 beta2 by installing on a spare hard drive in the laptop but it gets to 69% of kernel loading and just stops dead i have just left it for 2 hours still the same more info i am nmot sure how to get . The machine is as follows Compaq Presario V5030 AMD Turion 64 , 1 Gb Ram Shared video using 256 Mb video is ATI Radeon express 200M ,TSW cd/dvd drive Broadcom wirless chip (works just fine under 10.3) RTL8139 Ethetnet on board. [opensuse-factory] factory to beta3 and other

Is there a simple way to upgrade from factory to beta3 and in the future to the final release? I'm not sure I always will want to live in factory land. [opensuse-factory] NTP configuration in Yast does not choose a default server?

Hi, I'm a bit confused over the NTP server configuration in Yast (KDE). It seems like it does not set up a default NTP server when it's started. Would it not be best if it's chosen from http://www.pool.ntp.org/ and matches the country you're in? It's maybe almost as that is the only servers that should be in the Yast list. Hello, I tried to register my 11.1 beta2 installation. The result was a dialog with the following errors: Unknown option: nozypp Unknown option: dumpfile None of the installed products can be registred at the Novell registration server. [opensuse-factory] boot success dependent on existence of fsck even when all filesystems squeeky clean/unSmart

Yesterday I was manually stepping Smart to bring a flaky old Athlon Factory system up to date when Smart complained about a conflict between a new package and the existing old e2fsprogs rpm. To resolve, as I often do in similar not-so-smart Smart upgrade cases, I did rpm -d --nodeps on e2fsprogs, expecting to add it back on the next Smart run. Before the current run could complete, the system spontaneously rebooted. On reboot naturally fsck couldn't run, so I rebooted to another distro to run fsck on all partitions. On reboot into Factory, init still dropped me to repair mode and ro / due to "dirty" non / filesystem needing checking, which was a blatant lie. I suppose I should report this as a bug, but would like to see what others think. Ideas? On a related note (not-so-smart Smart), Smart reported db errors, requiring me to run rpm --rebuilddb, on about 10 different runs during yesterday's "session", spelled out in https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=431722#c4 . -- "Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry."
