Hello! I have tested the KDE-Live-CD on a Samsung P35 and found some issues (which I did not find reported jet). Most of them are really hardware specific, so I do not know, if I should fill bug-reports. The boot-loader wants to boot with a resolution of 1024x768. So I changed to the native resolution of 1400x1050. After boot entering sax2, it tells me that my monitor has 17.1 inches and a 5/4 ratio, where it has 15 inches and a 4/3 ratio. I have a Radeon mobility 9700 (RV350 NP) . I can activate 3D acceleration in sax2 with the radeon-driver. But in sysinfo in always says no 3D acceleration, whereas glxgears always works! This Notebook has no entry in the 2ram whitelist. I did not manage to suspend with the options from http://de.opensuse.org/S2ram (I did not try all). But under 10.2 it works very well with the radeon-driver, radeonfb and vga=normal video=vesa:off and only -f. Linksys PCMCIA wpc54g ver. 1.2 card. Just upgraded to 10.3 b3plus and the wireless is broken AGAIN! Worked with A5 a I recall. Upgraded to factory to see if any fixes might have taken place but no luck. I can't be the only one in the world that experiences this on a continuous basis. Hello, How do I configure 's2ram' and 's2disk' in 10.3-factory? I looked at the config files, where it was in 10.2, but neither of them exist, and there isn't any information about changes in /usr/share/doc/packages/suspend/ just some 10.1 related info, which does not seem to apply even to 10.2, so probably completely obsolete for 10.3... BTW: good news: now both utilities work with my motherboard. In 10.2 only s2ram worked (with '-f'), now both of them work, but only from the command line at the moment. Would be nice to get it working from gnome/kde/xfce menu again... Hi, Just tried out the Live CD. Pretty much everything in the Live CD itself works, the only thing I wonder is if it's worth launching opensuse-updater-kde on the live session; it's really as if a user can update things from in there. I tried out the live installer, and it has a lot of rough edges; might be a bad idea to have the icon on the desktop (and instead wait for 11.0). Anyway, for the install (let me know if any of these require bug reports): * After you initially press "Next", why doesn't it go straight to the "Change Installation Settings"? The screen it provides gives a very loose summary of what's happening, and _very_ important text like formatting your whole hard drive is written in regular sized black text. This is a serious issue. * It lists "Keyboard" but there's nothing below it (not even en_US) or whatever. * Changing the keyboard layout (I tried en_UK) seems to have no effect on the installed system. * I got two big green YaST errors: ** "Calling the YaST module 'inst_fam' has failed" ** 'inst_live_cleanup' later fails too ** My yast logs: http://francis.giannaros.org/temp/y2logs.tar.bz2 * KInternet tray icon (as well as KNetworkManager) is started up on initial boot for some reason. Issues that would be great to have but are probably impossible for 10.3: * Selection of repositories before install * All the install in one go (so when you reboot, you start the first session straight away) It is super-speedy though; time flies when you can browse the web/irc at the same time. Hi all, on a fresh install I noticed the following Problems: 1.) there will be a file Desktop in the initial users home directory preventing gnome to create a directory of the same name. This directory has to be removed manually to get a working gnome desktop This is true for x86_64 and x86 2.) yast2 will not start on gnome with the following error output: /usr/lib/YaST2/bin/y2controlcenter-gnome: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/YaST2/bin/y2controlcenter-gnome: undefined symbol: apss_already_running however the kde-version (y2controlcenter) will start normally. This is true for x86_64 and x86 3.) After enabling desktop effects all windows on a gnome Desktop dont't have a border. That means you not able to move (except with holding the alt-key), resize or close the window on the desktop. I noted this behavior on an ATI card (x1600) as well as on an Nvidia card (7900GS). The other expected effects work fine. X11 reports that all drivers and extensions where loaded and ready. KDE is fine in all respects. On a 10.2 installation on the same machine everything is ok. This is only true on x86_64 - x86 is fine at all. Hi all, with my last update from factory my system got a new kernel (2.6.22.5-12), and as i could see after the next reboot, no more wireless lan (intel 3945bg). With lsmod i could see two modules regarding wlan: ipw3945 and iwl3945. I tried to configure it via Yast, but Yast told me that it is "unable to configure network card because kernel device is not present". So i downgraded back to 2.6.22.5-10, which was the last kernel with running wireless lan driver, but now that doesnt work too. [opensuse-factory] Beta 2: no more suspend2ram since update from 29th August

Hi all, made a fresh install from the beta2-ISO at 25th August. Nearly everything went fine. Interesting in this case is that suspend to ram was working until last wednesday, when i made an update with smart. Only two repositories are listed in smart: factory and factory-non-oss. But since i made this update my notebook didnt wake up correctly after suspend to ram. Screen is staying blank, background light is switching on and after a short while there is no more harddisk activity, fan is turning up and thats it. The only way to get the notebook "back to live" is to switch it off the hard way with a long pressing at the powerbutton. Needless to say that there are many messages from fsck regarding the filesystem (clearing orphaned inodes and replaying journal), so it seems to be dangerous at this time to use suspend to ram. My machine is a toshiba A 100, Intel T2300, 2GB Ram, ATI X1600, 160 GB SATA Harddisk with ext3fs. Anybody else has the same problem? Where can i look for some logs regarding the suspend action? [opensuse-factory] broken grub after update from beta1

Hi, I updated a x86_64 machine from beta1 to beta3. After the packages were installed I found the machine in a reboot loop. The grub boot loader was not working any longer. So I tried Repair System. The automatic one obviously deleted Windows from menu.lst. Then it threw an error about not being able to access /dev/fd/62. A second try with this one left me with a single entry for linux (i.e. failsafe and xen were gone, too). So I tried the Expert option Repair Boot Loader. It recreated the default and failsafe entries in menu.lst, but was not able to create initrd. the script complained about not being able to access /dev/sda6 which is the root / partition of my system (xfs containing /boot, too). After that wreckage I decided to try a new installation of beta3. So I have no logs for the above problems. Has anybody similar behaviour? I found a issue I couldn't figure out yet, but before logging a bug report, can someone confirm that I'm not doing something wrong? Hi, in beta3 running OO.org installed from ooo-i18n team packages from http://ftp.linux.cz/pub/localization/OpenOffice.org/devel/680/OOG680_m5/Bui… I have following problem: I cannot open any file, although I can open new file but cannot save it, after pressing open button in file selection dialog or calling saving dialog I get following output: (process:31871): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: gtype.c:2242: initialization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function (process:31871): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed (process:31871): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_new: assertion `G_TYPE_IS_OBJECT (object_type)' failed This problem seems to be same as described in http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=438870 This bugreport contains also more detailed information. Hey Group; I may being say goodbye to my old Hauppauge Model 401 pci buss TV/FM perfectly good card due to the FCC forcing HiDef down our throats. To that is there a good Linux PCI HiDef TV/FM card out there? As I remember at the first of 2009 this switch will take effect. The local FREE TV station will drop analog and go to the forced on the broadcaster and us HD TV. My guess is the US government is looking for fees, and taxes as income. Hi everyone, as some of you have already noticed, we have slightly changed the language support in openSUSE 10.3. To give you an update of what languages will be supported on which media set, here is a short summary. KDE / GNOME CD: The 1CD's is English-only, _BUT_ you can get all packages supporting your language from the online repositories! DVD (download): Supports English, Portuguese (Brazil and Main), French, Italian, Spanish, German, Chinese (Simpl. & Trad.), Japanese, Russian, Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Finnish, Danish, Swedish and Dutch. Language Addon: Has all the languages that didn't fit on the DVD, ie. is only to be used with the DVD! DVD (retail): Will contain all languages available. So, how did we choose the languages for the DVD? We basically took Novell's Tier 1 and Tier 2 languages, excluding Korean, which we didn't want to ship with only 58% of the strings translated (stats from i18n.opensuse.org) Best, Christoph -- Christoph Thiel, Tech. [opensuse-factory] system stopped mounting internal ntfs partition in Beta3

Hello It is unbelievable how i have troubles with ntfs-3g. As soon as i nstalled Beta3, writing to my internal ntfs partition didn´t work as user, only as root and it hasn´t been working until now.That´s ok, i created a bug, so i hope it will be solved, but system stopped mounting my internal ntfs partition completely yesterday.I don´t know why.I checked fstab and everything seems to by correct, exactly as fstab attached in bug 309078 Please could you give me any advice, because i´m desperate:-( Everything worked correctly in Beta2. Hi! We made sure yesterday that Factory gets synced out, so you see what we're testing. Note that you will see a missing dependency from desktop-file-utils to /etc/profile.d/xdg-enviroment.sh (sic!), which was fixed after the rebuild you see synced out. Just ignore that and keep testing with it, but please mention in your bug reports if you updated. Hi everyone, your help is needed ;) Can you run this small command $ tail -1 /etc/modprobe.d/unsupported.blacklist and check if the last line reads ## include modules.unsupported.blacklist ? If it does, then everything is fine. If it's _not_ commented out and you surely didn't tweak anything related to handling of unsupported modules (setting LOAD_UNSUPPORTED_MODULES_AUTOMATICALLY in sysconfig) in a previous install, can you please comment in bug https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=304652 ?
