[opensuse-factory] Problems with OpenSuSE 10.3 + KDE 3.5.7 + Driver ATI x1400 v8.40 + Compiz

Hello, I have update my system with OpenSuSE 10.3 but I don't understand how to enable Compiz on my KDE 3.5.7. ATI drivers doesn't have support for 10.3 and so, no 3D (glxgears goes so sloooooooow) and when i do glxinfo, it says "no direct rendering". I have also installed compiz fuzion by "1-click install" (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/XGL/openSUSE_10.3/compiz-fus…). Now, how can i see compiz? do i need to wait ati driver for 10.3 or it's possible to use it even now? [opensuse-factory] CD-less install with SLP

Now for the really geeky, I tried to combine a CD-less boot of the installation system http://en.opensuse.org/Installation_without_CD with SLP to locate the installation server http://en.opensuse.org/Network_Installation_Source The initial boot uses files initrd and linux from the mini ISO, booted via grub. The server makes the DVD ISO available via ftp. SLP is configured. But one seems to have to go through the ncurses yast manual installation procedure, which does not offer an SLP option. Is it possible to make this work somehow? SLP is a must for LAN-installs requiring the minimum of user-action. [opensuse-factory] Adding community repos during initial installation

In case of an updating installation: Would it make sense/be possible to add Packman, Videolan etc. to update sw installed from them? [opensuse-factory] 10.3 install problem

Hardware: Compaq Presario 1720US laptop P3 1G cpu 256M ram During first attempt to install (fresh) while selecting custom software choices the system became very sluggish and eventually crashed the installer. In trying to recreate the problem the system became sluggish again but did not crash and once swap was added the system became responsive again. This could become a big issue for low ram systems where a custom software selection is made. I believe this can be verified by someone else that has a low ram system and by using the "expert" area of the software selection. If you poke around in the various patterns and also use search to select and deselect packages I think this problem can be easily reproduced. Perhaps asking to mount the swap partition before going to the summary screen would be appropriate. After my laptop install is finished I will repeat the process and try to reproduce the crash. If successful I will open a bug report. Hello, I notice that there are no torrents at all listed in the email announcing the release. I thought this would be the main focuse for download. I am only getting 1.5 K via ftp. What's hppening? It's the 4th, but only for another hour and a half ;) There appear to be no torrent files for the sources DVDs for GM. The last ones are for RC1, which probably aren't online any more. Is that lack of torrent files an oversight, intentional, or a still-planned? [opensuse-factory] Sounds with pidgin

Running the latest openSUSE RC with updates and pidgin produces no sound for me. The environment is KDE and both ALSA and ESD are running. Sounds are enabled in pidgin preferences. Looking for some culprits here...pidgin issue, sound system, etc.?
