Bug ID: 1200005 Summary: firefox --new-tab <url> results in "Firefox is already running, but is not responding." Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Firefox Assignee: factory-mozilla@lists.opensuse.org Reporter: gp@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: ---
For a long while (think 15+ years) I have been using
firefox --new-tab <url>
to add a new tab to an existing Firefox instance, for example to open URLs from a mail client.
With MozillaFirefox-100.0.2-1.1.x86_64 on Tumbleweed I am not getting a delay of multiple seconds after which the following dialog pops up:
Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To use Firefox, you must first close the existing Firefox process, restart your device, or use a different profile.

--- Comment #2 from Gerald Pfeifer gp@suse.com --- (In reply to Andreas Stieger from comment #1)
works for me
I could reproduce this reliably, also after restarting Firefox.
Some updates, though not for Firefox, later the issue no longer appears.
So, closing this as WORKSFORME now. Thank you, Andreas!
