Correct, the only change was the upgrade to TB 102.2.2. I double-checked in zypper.log, pcsc and opensc weren't changed. I've restored ~/.thunderbird from backups and installed 91.12.0 on my home machine and it's working normally. I've got other machines at work that have 102.2.2 installed that I can use for testing if necessary.
