So it might either be DAV implementation related or something similar. I have removed the plugin to attempt to use Thunderbird's CardDav and CalDav Sources. The same thing happens. Thunderbird acts as if its going to connect, hangs there as if it is processing, and after a while gives up. TbSync is listed as incompatible with Thunderbird 102. (the version on the Thunderbird Addon Page says that), but you can side load a beta XPI from github produced by the author. It doesn't work either. It downloads Zero contacts. The codec issues are there because you are running the openSUSE version and not the Packman version, how the library is loaded has no effect. The list which is modified is the order Firefox tries to load the libavcodec version. As 59 is the first one mentioned it will be used. Only if not available it steps down the list. And as explained in my first comment Firefox is not checking for supported codecs. I've just successfully connected some CardDAV addressbooks with Thunderbird 102.3.1 without visible issues. But I do not use any addon. If it fails for you with TbSync probably that one is broken?
