Problems printing via cups.
I have hit a bit of a problem with printing from a Suse 9.1 box running cups 1.1.20 to a Suse 8.2 print server running Cups 1.1.19. I can configure /etc/cups/client.conf to point to the 8.2 print server, and everything works, however the workstation sees all the 30 odd print queues on the printer server. I only want the workstaion to see 3 of the printers. (The workstation is configured as a LTSP server...) I have tried running cups on the workstation, adding the three printers using lpadmin -p <printername> ipp://qegs-printers/printers/<printername> Which worked, but mozilla Firefox would not print! In fact it stops the print queue with the error "EMPTY PRINT FILE!" once you attempt to print from Firefox. Is there either a way of restricting which printers are used by the clients, or making firefox print? Thanks Rob Keeling -- I love deadlines. workstaion to see 3 of the printers.
You need to setup a class for the relevant printers.

This is a known issue with firefox.... I suggest you check the docs and/or the FAQ at the mozilla site for more information. -- Thomas Adam ===== "The Linux Weekend Mechanic" -- http://linuxgazette.net "TAG Editor" -- http://linuxgazette.net "<shrug> We'll just save up your sins, Thomas, and punish you for all of them at once when you get better. I understud that classes were used to be able to group a number of printers together, printing to the printer class printed the job on the next avaiable Printer in the class, have I got this wrong?

I did do much googleing before posting the original email, though I must confess it gets very confusing between the different versions of mozilla/firefox/firebird etc. I have found http://www.mozilla.org/projects/fonts/unix/enabling_truetype.html and this looks ok. It is almost as if Cups 1.1.20 does not like accepting print jobs from mozilla, but a cups 1.1.19 server does. Can you point me in the right direction on this? Thanks for your help!
