My old subscription was on an account which was popped from a remote
mailbox. My new address is on our own mail server so all mail uses the
smtp protocol. Sorry if it was poor shorthand.

Just a thought, but I recently changed from
popping mail to smtp-ing it.

refused to accept a probe message.
Also couldn't understand why I received no messages until I looked closely
at the server logs.
But perhaps we're all just too busy!
