'date -s <time>' ('man date' for details) will set the system time. You have to be root to change the time, BTW. If you want to store the new time back into the CMOS clock, check out 'man hwclock'. If you want to periodically synchronise the time with a clock at your ISP (which in turn should be getting time sync from a chain that has an atomic clock at the head), NTP is the stuff you want.
