Hi Outlook express keeps deleting my newsgroup settings, I have subscribed to a few groups and check a few times a week, I switch on the computer today, and there are no groups listed where they are normally under news.uklinux.net I am using Windows 98 and am just waiting for rhl 7.2 and some more funds for hardware so I can get rid of this microsoft garbage and install Linux. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Paul
Hi Paul,

Outlook express keeps deleting my newsgroup settings,
Yes, I can imagine that this would be a common problem under Windows :-)
I have subscribed to a few groups and check a few times a week, I switch on the computer today, and there are no groups listed where they are normally under
news.uklinux.net
Yes, I have experienced this on my parent's machine running Windows 98. I think the problem is caused from the registry loosing its settings. If you take a look in the following folder: c:\windows\Application Data\Mail\Outlook\ID{some_long_numbrt} This is where your Newsgroup information settings are kept. Now, in theory, the location of that folder *should* be in the registry, but when I looked for it, it wasn't. Yet it was there, when the settings were correct. I don't have a fix for this.
I am using Windows 98 and am just waiting for rhl 7.2 and some more funds for hardware so I can get rid of this microsoft garbage and install Linux.
A very wise move :-). Tux and the gang will welcome you with open arms :-) Although I wouldn't use RH (yuck). Personally SuSE is much more stable. (BUT I DONT WANT TO START A FLAME WAR..... SO AS MARK AND LARD WOULD SAY FROM RADIO1 - "leave it") Regards, Thomas Adam ===== Thomas Adam "The Linux Weekend Mechanic" -- www.linuxgazette.com ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
