I'm wondering how many of us are using LTSP or some other thin client technology. I have recently started to Learn more about KIWI the technology behind Novell's new offering SUSE Linux Enterprise thin client. is there any interest in a running thread on the subject? if you haven't seen it , I have been LTSP as I describe here http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/17942.html I am hoping to get something included in 10.3 that is even easier to setup and mantain. I am hoping there is some help among you. James -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-edu+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-edu+help@opensuse.org

Some of my corporate clients are using LTSP. It would be great to get LTSP 5 packages for openSUSE 10.3. Here is the quote from : http://wiki.ltsp.org/twiki/bin/view/Ltsp/Ltsp5 "For Novell, Christoph Thiel and Andreas Jaeger are working on integrating LTSP-5 into the next release of openSUSE."

We run a number of schools systems on SUSE/LTSP. The largest we have at the moment is around 180 thin client desktops and all the support services (Moodle, Elgg, mail, etc) We are also working with a number of schools to look at recycling old machines using LTSP but to a Windows TS desktop. This fits nicely with our use of Sun Ray ultra thin client technology. Sun Ray is certified to run on SLES and works well. -- *Andy Trevor* Technical Director *Cutter Project Limited* 18 Lynn Rd, Ely Cambs, CB6 1DA Phone: 08700683356 Mobile: 07840 988311 http://www.cutterproject.co.uk ------------------------------- Ubuntu Partners http://www.ubuntu.com -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-edu+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-edu+help@opensuse.org
Whoa! Dude! That is what I have been looking for. I really hate having to use Red Hat for this endeavor. Thank you for the site. I have 24 old laptops, a fair PC that I can convert to a server, and a 24 port switch. I guess I'll start working on the server tomorrow. Man, I hope it works! Again thanks for the web site.
