Web readers use less bandwidth in most cases e.g. spam mails don't need to be downloaded, unnecessary or irrelevant attachments can be deleted directly from the server.
Web readers that work well? I know several, but a particularly impressive one comes with SuSE Linux Open Exchange server. Worth having a look at (particularly at the school pricing available)!

Although becoming less of an issue (although I see broadband soon
becoming as slow as modems), is the unnecessary use of bandwidth. On top of
this I would also recommend an OE (or similar) reader as I've not yet found
a web based reader to be as fast, easy and familiar to use, there just too
clunky. Although they can be more reliable (I normally set these up as a
back-up where the email server has the option).
Hope you all having a good one
Adrian
