No, novdoc is not a standard. Docbook is a standard. So is DITA.
You misinterpreted that, he didn't claim that Novdoc is a standard. :) It's an exchange format intentionally with the same elements and structure like DocBook. Not more not less.
Oh I see. So what is the advantage of using Novdoc in the community? I mean isn't it just better to use the full docbook dtd and xsl's, perhaps with a customization layer from the onset? -- Ask me about the Monkey.
