There is a watchdog script that reboots the nodes when the BMC becomes unavailable (the firmware is a bit unstable). Thats why sometimes the node count drops low.

Ok. Which boards are unstable? Arndale boards?

That was the Midway machine. The arndale boards are more stable actualyl (but also not 100% stable).
