How to change my e-mail address for build.o.o
There are several threads asking this very same question. The latest I found was this one: https://lists.opensuse.org/archives/list/buildservice@lists.opensuse.org/thr.... However I still do not find an answer to that question. What I tried: - Going to my profile on build.o.o and edit my profile: The e-mail address is not editable. - Change the user meta via `osc meta user -e letsfindaway`: Does not change anything. - Login to Micro Focus and try to edit my profile there: The e-mail address is not editable. So what is the way to change the e-mail address listed on my profile in build.o.o and used to send e-mail notifications? Thanks for any insights and pointers! Martin
Hi Martin, unfortunately I cannot help off the cuff, but I just sent a mail with the similar issue and a proposed fix to this list on the 21.01. which is held back by moderation as I was not a list member at the time. Here is my mail cited:
Hi,
I am having trouble changing my profile data: The fields I want to edit are my displayname and the mail address. Both are greyed out when editing the profile as they are provided by the IDP, but upon opening the IDP Self-Service these fields are not present.
Coincidentally I work for the company providing the IDP software, so my guess is that the corresponding attributes are not exposed by the Self-Service (more info: https://docs.software-univention.de/manual-4.4.html#user-self-service ).
If this on purpose some information on how to change the fields (e.g. via contacting the admins) would be great, otherwise I can offer to help to configure the Self-Service accordingly.
Best regards Jan-Luca

Hey Henne,
that's indeed the right place, but (at least for me) there is no mail field available to change. One can edit the Password Recovery Mail, but that's not the address used by the OBS. As I stated the corresponding LDAP attribute (most likely "e-mail") does not seem to be exposed by this Self-Service. Best regards Jan-Luca

You saw the "Change E-Mail Address" link on the top? Afterward you need to verify your email address. Next time you authenticate with OBS, your email address is updated. Henne -- Henne Vogelsang http://www.opensuse.org Everybody has a plan, until they get hit. - Mike Tyson

I did change the address (in german it's "Kontozugang schützen" which means "Secure your account" and might be confusing) quite some time ago, but the change never arrived within OBS: I can confirm that the password reset mail is sent to the new address, but OBS still shows and uses to old one. I just tried to edit my OBS profile again in case that this would trigger an update, but no luck so far. Best regards Jan-Luca

I don't find your account with your sender email address. Can you please drop me a private mail which account this is and the email adresses? thanks adrian -- Adrian Schroeter <adrian@suse.de> Build Infrastructure Project Manager SUSE Software Solutions Germany GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany (HRB 36809, AG Nürnberg) Geschäftsführer: Ivo Totev

Have you also done the verifying step (Kontoverifizierung)? Henne -- Henne Vogelsang http://www.opensuse.org Everybody has a plan, until they get hit. - Mike Tyson
Hey,
Have you also done the verifying step (Kontoverifizierung)?
indeed this was missing. For the record: One can change to mail address used by OBS at the Self-Service Tab "Kontozugang schützen"/ "Change E-Mail Address", but this does not trigger a verification mail which has to be requested manually at "Kontoverifizierung"/"Verify E-Mail Address". After verifying the new mail address is used by OBS upon next login. Thanks at all for providing the clues. Best regards Jan-Luca
Yes, this also works for me. It is probably not intuitive, but thanks all of you for providing the pieces of the puzzle. Martin - letsfindaway
Hi, I've changed my mail address on the IDP-Portal and did also the verification 5 hours ago, but `osc meta user -e chkpnt` still shows my old address. How long does it take 'til the information is propagated to build.o.o? Best regards, Gregor

Can you confirm that after the step "Change E-Mail Address" you went to "Verify E-Mail Address", you received the verification mail and you successfully verified it? Yes, I have successfully verified the new address. Last night I was just wondering because the new email was displayed in my profile at build.o.o, but `osc meta user -e chkpnt` still showed the old address. But that could have been a caching problem (although I deleted the authentication data in oscrc): Because now the new email address is also displayed there. Best regards, Gregor

I only know services where I log in with my username + password, not with my email (bugzilla.o.o, build.o.o). And that is working fine. So it's all good, there's nothing more to do.
