Hi Mates,
is this just my feeling, or is OBS atm slower?
It is. Probably related to the "64 of 193 hosts idle." for ppc64. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

it is for two reasons: * The new and fast scheduler code is able to trigger way more jobs in the same time. The dispatcher is not clever enough to prefer the jobs which are more important. We need to work on this. * Our build2X hosts are still either broken (disabled) or not correct setup, which makes them slower. (WIP) * We moved all build hosts from one server room to another one, so they were partly switched off last week. We work on all this ... bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH email: adrian@suse.de -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

Hi Adrian, From my side I just want to mention that you are doing a hell of job to keep all those servers running and at the same time managing such a demanding user- base. :-) I hope that other users are also appreciating what you are doing for the community. Thanks !! Regards Raymond -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

Thanks, but I am not alone ;) Christian Schneeman just changed the network switch again in our build network. The former (new) one seems to have caused serious problems, we have again 35 MB/s instead of 120 kb/s in this loaded network (even though it was always a 1GBit network). This should fix also the timeout api error problems from last week. However, the team says thank you for your patience ! adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH email: adrian@suse.de -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

"very slow" doesn't even begin to describe it in my opinion... a package of mine has been sitting in "scheduled" for more than 24 hours by now... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

Hey, at least the scheduler is fast ;-) Not for me, since 3 or 4 days at today now
Cheers, Michael.

Me, too. May be they do it on purpose. Just to give some incentive to explore a local installation ... ;-) Detlef

"They" have just load issues with the build machines, unfortunately exposed by the new scheduler. See Adrians meeting report. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org

Do you really experience scheduler slowness, i.e. packages hanging in "finished" or packages not going into "scheduled" after you changed something? Packages staying in "scheduled" for a long time indicate that the build farm is overloaded with builds of other packages. Hey, at least the scheduler is fast ;-)
Turned out that the "worker binary cache" code I added yesterday contained a bug resulting in the same packages getting built over and over again. Me bad. Now fixed.
