I am planning to do a presentation to my local LUG (Austin Linux Group) on using OpenSuSE build service. That's great!
I plan to show how a small developer can use build service to develop and publish packages for many different distributions and archetectures. What are "small developers" ;-) ?
Build Service experts! Is there any thing that I should be sure to mention? Yes, I think one of the things people should really realise is: What is the buildservice actually really for? For example, it does not do the source handling, it does not host the webpage (that is what sourceforge is about) but it compiles for lots of repos in the sense of "base distros" like opensuse x.x, fedora_x etc.
But moreover there is the change to change existing packages using linking on a source basis. That gives IMO possibilities which are unique nowadays. If time is left, you could discuss with the LUG which features and possibilies the people see for the future of the BS. Please report back :-)
Is there any chance that one of the biuld service experts would want to come to austin to give such a presentation personally?
Hmm, I fear it would be quite expensive for us to come over for one talk :-( Have fun, Klaas -- Klaas Freitag Architect OPS/IPD SUSE LINUX Products GmbH - Nuernberg --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+help@opensuse.org
