[opensuse-buildservice] Expired OBS Keys?

It seems the OBS Security key (keyid 79EAFD54) on keys.gnupg.net has expired (2011-Apr-2). Would it be possible for someone to update it? [opensuse-buildservice] Use solid state disks [ssd] to improve obs build times.

Hello With the opensuse build service [obs] getting more usage every day I wonder if this would make a diffence :- 1. Use solid state disks [ssd] to improve build times of package rpms on, perhaps point the BuildRoot or _tmppath to the ssd's Reason for asking. Improve the packaging times during busy times on obs. [opensuse-buildservice] distro independant rpms and debs for distro independant data?

This question concerns both the OBS and packaging so I am sending to both lists. I am currently working on packaging the Swiss Ephemeris http://www.astro.com/swisseph/ I am currently at the planning scheming and experimentation stage. First I will do the library. But then there is the data. The data is about 60 files not all of which will be wanted by all people. There may be ways of grouping but I am not sure. Perhaps one rpm per file. The Web page says: > For this extended timespan the ephemeris requires 32 Mbytes of ephemeris > files. It would be a shame if this had to repeat for each distro. There may be other projects with even more data. This data is distro and architecture independent. I understand that there should be different rpm per distro because different distros link libraries differently and do other details differently. There could be rpm version dependencies. Perhaps one distro can not understand rpms from another distro as raw data. My question is this is there a lowest common denominator rpm format that can represent pure data (and a few text licensing files) and be understood by all distros? How would you get the build service to produce such rpms? After you produced them how would you get the build service to serve them for all rpm based distros? Same question for debs and the debian based distros? Unrelated question: a while back OBS debian binary repositories were debian compatible but the source repositories were not. [opensuse-buildservice] Installing on Mandriva via OBS repo

Hi All, I am trying to install my program on Mandriva but can't seem to add the OBS repository. It seems that the command urpmi.addmedia doesn't work with the normal RPM PM. Someone on IRC mentioned that I could specify a different type for the repository in my OBS raw config to automatically generate a urpmi compatible repo. What do I put as the type for my Mandriva repo to make it urpmi compatible? OK, did that but halts before it can finish the configure. Is there another way to access the logs? an alternative solution would be: ln -s /usr/include/et/com_err.h /usr/include/com_err.h that's how I got it to work on my own box. But I could not do that in the build service because I was getting permission denied errors. [opensuse-buildservice] Use OBS Services to fetch regular git update

Hello Mates, i have a question. I'm thinking about to use our services to integrate downloadable Sources into the packages. But which Services i need? I thought "Create a tarball from SCM repository", "Update sources" and maybe "Validate Sources". Can this be a good way? Hi all, I'm working on improving the project / package views in OBS mobile. There are a few changes I'd like to propose and discuss. It would be great to find out if they would help make OBS mobile more efficient and powerful to the mobile client users before final implementation. I've submitted some packages to the obs. The packages have been accepted for inclusion into server:php:applications; now my status for the packages is: Package server:php:applications/mediawiki-texv, php5-pear-pel: - I've been added as user (without roles) - I can submit updates and accept requests to mediawiki-texvc - I can not trigger a source-download (that's why the package fails) Package server:php:applications/mediawiki, php5-pear-channel-pearhub : - I've not been added as user Q: Why is my user handled differently? Q: How can the source-download be triggered (why isn't it triggered automatically?) Q: Can I be added as maintainer/bugowner for the packages? Hi, To whoever triggers the move of any repos into DISCONTINUED: Could you PLEASE be so kind and announce such an action on this list in *advance*? With a warning in advance (1-2 weeks), all those who want to keep their old stuff, would have a fair chance to archive it off-site. Now I'm wasting time (and valuable resources on OBS) by re-enabling them in my project, rebuilding them, archiving the resulting repos and *then* removing them again. Perhaps this could even be automated in the future? (Like some warning via mail to all those who have builds enabled against a soon-to-be-discontinued repo). Just an idea... -Fritz

[opensuse-buildservice] Dependency issues with the RPM removal check

Hello, I am trying to build some PHP applications packages. The applications is composed a main application and lots of plugins. Considering that, I created a specfile with generates several packages : One for the main app and others for plugins and the RPM plugins depends from the main app RPM. So in my specfile, I used the keywords Requires(post) and Requires(postun) for the plugins RPM to have dependencies on the main app. I use post and postun because the plugins needs to execute a script provided my the main app RPM. I imported the SPEC file in OBS and unfortunately there is an issue for the SLES 10 distribution : The remove task fails because a dependency issue. Indeed, it seems that even with the requires keyword, the remove script removes the main app RPM before plugin and it that case the execution script in %postun fails because the script is missing. The more strange thing is that this issue happens only for the SLES10 distribution. I talked about this issue on IRC and I heard that it could be a bug. So is it really a bug or am I doing something worng. If it is a bug, is there a workaround in order to build correctly the package ? [opensuse-buildservice] supporting different versions of a package in one project

Hi, I'm running into a nasty issue in one of my OBS projects. OBS supports to have the same package in different versions within one project basically. I'm using that since years but now I'm running into a special case which is not supported. So I would consider it a bug but wanted to bring it up here (maybe someone knows about a workaround). I have one package in two versions within one project but now I have two versions of another package where one requires the older version to build and the other requires the newer version to build. So I've specified versioned dependencies in BuildRequires but that is not sufficient. They are actually taken into account but now I get "unresolvable" for the older package as it doesn't find the previous version apparently. So could we support this case in future? And does anybody know a workaround to that? Otherwise I won't be able to release Firefox 5 in the mozilla repository w/o removing all older versions what I don't want to do. Hi, here's a small summary of the 5th (coding) week. I've spent most of the time with the url-like argument parser (more information can be found here [1] and here [2]). Additionally I cleaned up/reworked the remote file classes (now we have: RORemoteFile and RWRemoteFile). I also added an AbstractHTTPResponse and HTTPError class to the httprequest module (the main purpose of the AbstractHTTPResponse is to encapsulate a "concrete" http response (for instance it can be used as a wrapper around urllib(2)'s addinfourl class)). [opensuse-buildservice] Feedback on OBS Private instance installation at Renault Automotive

Hi everybody, I'm working at RENAULT Automotive and we are involved in the GenIVI alliance. For testing purpose, we need an OBS private instance for building our software stack and keep all of application graphics confidential. So I have started to install and configure a OBS instance using the opensuse wiki : http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Build_Service_private_instance (written by Dominig Ar Foll as I understood) This was very useful for preparing the hardware, configuring the disk, downloading all the software images. With all these in formations, I was able to start quite quickly the OBS instance. I think, the wiki should contain a section concerning the quick test installation using only one hard drive (containing every things) . This solution wouldn't be safe at all for data's, but this would reduce the disk preparation to copying the appliance to it . But, the wiki is very complete to set an production OBS instance (with lots of optimizations) . But to set up this kind of Instance, you need an agreement from the management because you will need to buy a few equipment and the agreement could be easily obtained from a Demo based on an initial quick and dirty OBS installation. When the appliance started, it clearly does nothing and problems have started . (And there is no error message anywhere . That's driving crazy) First what was missing in the wiki was the proxy configuration (Dominig, with it great experience and with lot of patience, help me a lot to set up this proxy configuration). So, I have added a small section in the wiki corresponding to this. While the proxy is configured . the OBS still does nothing (Aaaargh !) Here is comes the tricky part . All tutorial on the net are based on copying the prj prjconf from another OBS instance, for which a login is required . I didn't understand anything to all of these . But it seems also that OBS has evolved a lot and all of these exotic manipulation aren't any more required for quickstarting a linked OBS . (but they maybe are for a standalone OBS instance) . Well, as a complementary information, I have used the 2.2.80 version on the OBS Appliance. Dominig show me the alternative way and almost everything can be done using only the WebUI .. Yes in that case, your OBS will be linked to an higher OBS instance, but this is sufficient for beginning .. So, the only thing that couldn't be done by the WebUI is to setup the OSC configuration file . (in fact, I don't now if it is mandatory regarding the OBS configuration but it's a very easy way to check that the OBS is properly configured). The tricks that Dominig has proposed is modify the .ossrc file to make the "apiurl" line pointing to the OBS that your are trying to configure. In that way, this insures that retrieval information mechanism will be done by the OBS itself. So it will also insure that the proxy settings are correct (remembering some headache!!!) . After that, thing becomes quite easy. I have used the OBS setup on the WebUI and select one of the 2 preconfigured choices. After switching back to the osc command line on the OBS itself, I have issued some osc ls MeeGo.com (as MeeGo.com is predefined settings) command which returns nothing . But osc ls MeeGo. Com: x (where x is not a project name) and I get the complete list of all available project on the linked instance : That means, my obs is now alive and working !!! The final point was to define a build target . It take some times to understand that would be done by configuring properly the home projet of the Admin . (Now, I know that could be done on any project .) Dominig explain me what I need to add with raw config editor in the home:Admin project. He says, put the following line inside the Admin:project <repository name="MeeGo.com"> <path repository="standard" project=" MeeGo.com:MeeGo:1.2.0:oss"/> <arch>i586</arch> </repository> I understand a bit later the exact meaning of each line . Finally I upload a source package (from meego source) and it build ... bingo ! So as a conclusion, setting up a linked Private instance of an OBS is not complicated . But, I didn't find this on the net . And clearly the name OBS didn't help for this. Working in automotive world, we are sometimes searching for information about the CAN (Controler Area Network) technology which is the embedded automotive network . You can easily imagine that CAN isn't a relevant keyword with Google. OBS seems to have nearly at the same efficiency!!! So I think, I will add this configuration method on the opensuse wiki . My chance was, that Dominig is a very nice guy and I met him at a previous GenIVI workshop . Without his help, I would be still searching on the web !!! (and surely becoming crazy..) [opensuse-buildservice] Potential bug?

Hi I'm having a few issues while trying to build a Banshee package for the Banshee Repository. The build process fails because it fails to find a file which should be installed by this package: dbus-sharp-glib. Now the issue is: * The build log claims either dbus-sharp-glib and dbus-sharp-glib-devel are installed; * The /installed-pkg on the build chroot cage suggests both are installed; * Both packages are actually in the buildcache, so they are actually being pulled; * The devel package (which installs ok) does require the normal package (dbus-sharp-glib, which is found not to be installed). The build fails because dbus-sharp-glib isn't installed... a simple "rpm -qa | grep dbus-sharp-glib" or "rpm -qa --last" shows it isn't installed. Some time ago I've actually successfully build this package (with another spec), it's on the Banshee:Unstable repositories (the binaries and .src.rpm). I've also tested with the spec from that src.rpm, but it turns out with exactly the same error, which suggests there is most likely a bug introduced in a recent update on OBS. Guys any help on how to debug this further would be most welcomed as this bug (or whatever that is) is preventing an update on Banshee in Factory and on the Banshee:Unstable repo. Hi, On my obs I have a problem with hanging builds. In the logs I find that jobs have completed succesfully: "obsworker finished "build bzip2.spec" at Fri Jun 24 08:28:10 UTC 2011" but after that nothing more happens. I also see messages like obsworker finished "build kernel-default.spec" at Fri Jun 24 07:27:16 UTC 2011. [ 2577.690244] SysRq : Power Off Warning: clean shut down of the VM didn't work [ 2585.410515] Power down. build: extracting built packages... kernel-default-3.0.rc4-4.1.i586.rpm kernel-default-bas I already found a mail in the archive from someone having the same problems, but unfortunately there was no reply. Hi, I'm currently packaging some PHP-pear packages, and am looking for resources in how-to package PHP. There is some old documentation at http://old-en.opensuse.org/Packaging/PHP , which seem not to be fully correct for the build-service, the main documentation at http://en.opensuse.org/index.php?title=openSUSE:Packaging_PHP is still empty. What I'm looking for is some path, which should be provided from the OBS; Fedora provides the following macros: %{pear_phpdir} %{pear_xmldir} %{__pear} OBS seem to use the following Macros, as I have discovered e.g. in php5-pear-Date. %{php_peardir} %{php_pearxmldir} %{__pear} but I can't use those macros in my home projects. Currently I define them using %define __pear %{_bindir}/pear %define php_peardir %(pear config-get php_dir 2> /dev/null) %define php_pearxmldir /var/lib/pear Are there any hints, how to package PHP correctly? Is there any specific reason why OBS doesn't use the same macros as Fedora? Please enlighten me... Whoa, our buildservice server just lost connection to its disk storage. We had to do a hard reboot, this unfortunately means 4 hours scheduler downtime. Hi, is this the way it should be? $ osc ci --skip-validation *** Error: Package obs-service-source_validator is required for this operation $ sudo zypper in obs-service-source_validator [...] Not found and now? I only want to contribute to openSUSE, I don't want to study beforehand.
