I only updated the installed programs. I access the systems with a text mode console via ssh. Now when I am editing files using the 'the' editor, character that I type when in input mode do not display on the screen. The cursor, however, does advance. And, if I manually refresh the screen (pageUp/pageDown), the characters show up. I could not find any mention in the release notes of any changes to default terminal configurations. I am at a loss as to where to look to correct this problem. Insert mode in vi, however, seems to work. Why I've become assignee of this bug? IMHO this could be fixed if the program would be recompiled with latest ncurses. All other text based editors do work. I've simply make the `the' editor compile for the latest openSUSE 12.3 by taking the missed libregina into the editors repository. This may work that is you can test this and provide feedback.
