[Bug 465199] New: software repositories: extract the name of the repo from URL in smart way

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=465199 Summary: software repositories: extract the name of the repo from URL in smart way Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bluedzins@wp.pl QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- software repositories: extract the name of the repo from URL in smart way When I enter URL of the repo and with no name for it, SR extracts some part of it to make a name. Problem is it does this in such way that I end up with 10 "opensuse 11.1" repos. Not very useful. Please, extract the OS version from URL and also the category part -- KDE, Gnome, etc. If this is not possible, just copy the URL as a name -- it is far more informative than just OS version. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

See bug #456099, there is a similar problem with repo alias. Examples: http://download.opensuse.org/update/11.1/ http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.1/repo/oss/ http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_11.1 http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/STABLE:/Extra-Apps/open... Some 3rd party repos: http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/SuSE/11.1/ http://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/11.1 http://www2.ati.com/suse/11.1 http://ftp.skynet.be/pub/packman/suse/11.1/ In bug #456099 I chose host name + last 2 path elements (but skip the last element if there is a version number at the end). If you have a better idea just tell us. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

One helper though: please show the name as-you-type, so user could see the name at once, not after she/he added repo. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
