Could you install the package pavucontrol and check what the volume is indicated in the Output Devices tab ? My assumption is that the 66% in Kmix is related to 100% volume output for PulseAudio. Kmix with 13.1 has the VolumeOverdrive activated, which would allow to go up to 150% of the volume (as supported by PulseAudio). However the Kmix scale will still run from 0 to 100, while PulseAudio would show 0 to 150 %. A bit confusion, I admit but this can't be changed. The 66% seems as if PulseAudio is reducing the volume automatically to 100% maximum at startup. Could you please confirm that the following settings on Kmix are active:
1) Restore volumes on login 2) Autostart
