When installing from livecd on a lenovo thinkpad x61s, yast installer shows an error about parted not being able to change the label of sda and aborts the installation. If you edit the partition table by hand from a terminal and using fdisk, then the error is not shown and you can go on with the installation.

/bin/sh: /usr/sbin/parted: cannot execute binary file
What's wrong with parted on your system? What does 'rpm -V parted' report?
