https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=737961 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=737961#c0 Summary: touchpad freezes sometimes Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ru.vinzent@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=468388) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=468388) hwinfo output User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0 I have notebook Lenovo B560 with ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad. After upgrading to 12.1, touchpad freezes time to time. It looks like that: if I don't use my touchpad for some time (around 10-30 seconds), my next fingers' move will not move the cursor, so I have to move fingers back and forth several times in order to make it work again. Note that this is happens randomly and is not easy to reproduce. Also, it's not graphics freezes - only cursor doesn't move. Before upgrade, under opensuse 11.4, all was working fine, so it's not a hardware issue. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Don't move cursor for some time 2. Move fingers over touchpad or click 3. Actual Results: Cursor doesn't move, clicks are ignored Expected Results: Well, cursor should be moving and clicks should be handled I have following packages installed: kernel-default 3.1.0-1.2.1 kernel-firmware 20111025git-1.7.1 Also, I use Gnome 3.2. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Do you have an external mouse you can plug in to test whether that works? Not as a workaround, but to isolate if the issue is in the touchpad, the driver, or X in general.
External mouse works just fine, the problem appears only with touchpad. Note: I'm using Ubuntu for now. I'll download live cd in order to check whether this behaviour still appears. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
