[Bug 854042] New: Transparency Windows Engine Completely Fails on Search and Launch type Desktop

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=854042 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=854042#c0 Summary: Transparency Windows Engine Completely Fails on Search and Launch type Desktop Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: secure@aphofis.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 Changing from a default type desktop to a search launch fails when apps are minimised and the newly opened apps will be in focus, however its transparency is 80% rather than being NIL for the window in focus. We see when we have two search and launch desktops and opening and closing and minimising applications Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Replace all two default KDE Desktops to be Search and Launch 2.Open an application and minimise it 3.Change to a different desktop 4.Open and minimise an application 5 change back to the original desktop Actual Results: Transparency losses it and has the window in focus at 80% transparent. Expected Results: Normally the default X screen driver work perfectly in all past versions but as yet, the Nvidia repo has not get been created...should not matter as I have tested the same test PC with or without Nvidia Driver in past versions and all works perfectly I'll grab a screen shot and add upload files asap -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Whilst the search and launch desktop is the easiest way to demonstrate the transparency failure, all other standard theme or any default desktop that calls for a transparent window behind the one in focus; completely fails the total X windows session in X_64 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The 13.1 install I did was on 2 x production X_64 PC's that has no issues with 12.3 with default video card support drivers or with nvida specific video drivers. Thank God for my complete backup server X_64 PC....:-) My offline X_64 is being used to unravel this loony /boot/efi FAT issue with install in 12.3 and 13.1 and the partitioner I have on needinfo from Arvin https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=829834 Give me a few weeks to get that out of the way and I'll load the 13.1 issue.. If you set a native X_64 desktop where the pager setting is for a different widgets for each desktop then change to default search and launch then just minimise and open new app on any desktop....then swap focus between minimised app it should appear.......anyway I'll get you screen shot once the above bug is cleared...cheers :-) Leaving on needinfo -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

While we waiting, do you know which plasma theme are you using, and did you noticed any difference with different ones? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Only default kde plasma screen..I simply changed the desktop to the default search and launch list. Seems to be bringing a window that was out of focus, back into focus when the desktop is already using transparency as in default search and launch. The install could not have been more vanilla otherwise would have set to low priority...hence my alarm -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I can't provide any logs I am sorry and the resolution and subsequent problems addressed in upstream bug 850056 are the root causes of the many bugs it addresses. My opinion is that v13.1 as it stands should just be expunged -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
