And worked correctly. Then I did some 'zypper up' last week (inluding new nvidia drivers) and sutdown the machine. Next monday machine booted to runlevel 5 with no xdm screen shown. The xdm service runs "waiting for X" forever. When I, as root, start Xorg manually from the commandline, the xdm window appears immediately and regular user can be logged in. Cannot see anything special in logs (attached). I guess you're running gdm? Please make sure that /usr/bin/X redirects to /usr/bin/Xorg eventually and not to some /usr/bin/X.x11-video-nvidia{,G01,G02} script. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

But you are right. Changing original situation /usr/bin/X -> /var/lib/X11/X -> /usr/bin/X.x11-video-nvidiaG02 to /usr/bin/X -> /usr/bin/Xorg works (tested init 3;init 5) Is there anything more I can help to get some proper fix into updates? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

If you have time and patience you can go back to the original situation and run /usr/bin/X.x11-video-nvidiaG02 manually in runlevel 3 and see what happens. But all this is complicated and probably not worth the effort as I didn't see any other report of this issue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Infinite wait. But it's fine to resolve it as fixed - I have no free time to examine it more. Thanks a lot for a quick help. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
