[Bug 339515] New: Broken translation file "update-desktop-files.es.po"
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=339515 Summary: Broken translation file "update-desktop-files.es.po" Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Translations AssignedTo: ke@novell.com ReportedBy: noelamac@gmail.com QAContact: ke@novell.com Found By: --- Hello, We are just translating some files into Spanish language and have found one ".po" file (update-desktop-files.es.po*) that outputs several errors... to be more precise, 1,317 errors :-) and we are not sure how to proceed with this one, that besides the errors, it has 6,838 messages. Can someone tell us the best approach with this ".po" file? Can we just ignore the errors and go on with the translation? https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=339515#c2 --- Comment #2 from Camaleon -- <noelamac@gmail.com> 2007-11-06 09:31:45 MST --- You mean... to work on previous version of this ".po" file? Well, yes, I use poedit, it can open the rest of the ".po" files with no problem at all, only this one gives the errors (just after saving). So, what program can handle this kind of ".po" extented format files? Maybe Kbabel? What are the other translators teams doing to bypass this issue :-)? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=339515#c3 --- Comment #3 from Carlos Robinson <robin.listas@telefonica.net> 2007-11-06 12:51:33 MST --- I believe kbabel supports that format, but it coughs on that file (as on any big file with "problems"). If it has bugs, as there is no further development of kbabel, and kaider is not ready, they won't be solved. I'll try, time permitting. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=339515#c4 --- Comment #4 from Karl Eichwalder <ke@novell.com> 2007-11-07 01:57:47 MST --- Yes, must use a previous revision. KBabel and Emacs with a recent po-mode understand the msgctxt keyword. If you need help, I can revert the file a the previous revision. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Karl, no problem at all :-). We will try to do our best for working with the current file by means of KBabel, no need to revert back. We just didn't know what the problem was with the file so we asked, but now we know is about extended format we can take some ways to workaround this. Thanks for your help! Note: I am closing this bug report for now. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
