[Bug 410684] New: unable to change video modes w/Thinkpad

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=410684 Summary: unable to change video modes w/Thinkpad Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jnelson-suse@jamponi.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- In opensuse 10.3, I could use my special keys to change from external monitor to the LCD and vice-versa. This no longer works with 11.0. I've attached the output from cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/* /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THM*/* /proc/acpi/processor/*/* /proc/acpi/ibm/* | tee 2.6.25.9 for each of 2.6.22.18 and 2.6.25.9. Both in single-user mode as the 2.6.22.18 kernel and openSUSE 11.0 don't play nice together. This is on a Thinkpad T61p. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

This went under my radar. OK, so the event is reported properly. Could you give it a short try with GNOME (e.g. live CD in case you do not want to install it). Furthermore (new problem), lshal -m does *not* report any key switching although brightness up/down and most of the other function keys still work. What might be going on here? Video Mode Switching did not work with GNOME last time I tried it, but I can try again - I'm sure stuff has been updated since Nov/Dec. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I've got mode switching working, but not with the button. I had to configure the NVidia MetaModes just so (I'll paste everything later), and then use one of the randr utilities (KDE4's randr support in this case) to switch among them. The hotkey still doesn't work, but mode switching does.
