[Bug 1029015] New: Clean install failed to import my partitioning correctly
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1029015 Bug ID: 1029015 Summary: Clean install failed to import my partitioning correctly Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.2 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation Assignee: yast2-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: a.johnw@yahoo.com QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- I installed leap 42.2 over 12.3 and imported my partitioning and didn't make any changes to it. I waited for 13.3 which never happened and this was my best opportunity to move on. /home was mapped to a separate disk with nothing else on it. It actually installed to the root of what I call my system disk. This caused a fair bit of confusion as all appeared ok when the system was up and running. In my case the correct place for /home is on a raid 1 array but I wonder if the same thing could happen if some one mapped it to an ordinary disk. I did notice that the install showed that it wouldn't be formatting /home but thought little of that because it would be formatting my system disk and assumed it followed the content of fstab or what ever. In my case the raid was degraded and running on one disk but I don't see why that should prevent an install. It would be nice if it told me but formatting and re creation of the raid or just one disk and a warning would be a better option. Other aspects of the import such as swap which was on yet another disk were ok. Just /home had problems. John - -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
