If so, can you start ccsm, select 'preferences' and check which Backend is activated (I have GConf Configuration Backend on my system). In case it's gconf, check in gconf-editor the keys /apps/compiz/plugins/cubeaddon/screen0/options/{bottom,top}_images top should be opensuse.png for the logo to show. I would not remember having it installed once manually.
