When you run cinternet -i dsl0 -s --verbose the following errors are issued trying to connect local smpppd error: could not connect local smpppd: No such file or directory trying to connect remote smpppd (0.0.0.0, 3185) error: could not connect remote smpppd: Connection refused error: connection to smpppd failed and yet if you use ifstatus dsl0 dsl0 name: DSL Connection interface dsl0 is up provider-file: provider0 status: connected demand: no It does not matter what command varient you run using cinternet it always fails to connect to smpppd. I believe that this bug is present in earlier versions of openSUSE (11.4) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Using a 32bit distribution of openSUSE 12.3 - ADSL Modem set to bridge mode. 2.Setup an ADSL connection - YAST -> Network Devices -> DSL 3.Attempt to use any of the cinternet commands as per the man page 4. Errors will be issued complaining it is unable to connect to smpppd 5. If you use "ifup dsl0" you can establish a connection without a problem.
