[Bug 441541] New: Black Screen on resume from suspend
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=441541 Summary: Black Screen on resume from suspend Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: andrew@joako.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- #s2ram -f The system suspends to RAM correctly. Out of the box suspend-to-disk also works on this system. But when waking from either suspend-to-RAM or suspend-to-disk modes the screen is always black. In order for anything to be displayed Xorg needs to be reloaded (ctrl+alt+bkspace twice). Due to this bug the suspend options are pretty useless as the idea when suspending the system is that your current session is stored exactly as you left it. The system is using a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H mainboard (AMD 780G chipset), onboard HD 3200 graphics with the fglrx driver ("ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics (RS780 9610)") ver. 8.493_2.6.25.5_1.1-2.1 (Sun 08 Jun 2008 08:30:57 AM EDT) I can reproduce the bug with an older Dell (P4 i686, 32-bit) system. This one is running Nvidia (legacy) graphics. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

proprietary fglrx driver --> INVALID
I can reproduce the bug with an older Dell (P4 i686, 32-bit) system. This one is running Nvidia (legacy) graphics.
If you mean proprietary nvidia driver --> also INVALID Please try with radeonhd/nv drivers first. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

- s2ram -f, the system wakes with a black screen. reloading X the screen stays black. RadeonHD does not support this chipset...
Then it's probably not related to X at all, since in this case fbdev or vesa driver is in use (verify by booting into runlevel 3, then running "s2ram -f"). Again I suggest to read http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram.
