Comment # 3 on bug 1007746 from
It is a traditional bios.

I added the commands so it looks like this:

        echo    'Loading Linux 4.8.4-1-default ...'
        linux    /boot/vmlinuz-4.8.4-1-default
root=UUID=b3c20bd7-eba1-4521-a62e-37fd44f86e75 debug ignore_loglevel
earlyprintk=vga,keep
        echo    'Loading initial ramdisk ...'
                initrd    /boot/initrd-4.8.4-1-default

And ran update-bootloader --refresh

But there does not appear to be any log. If I run:

journalctl |grep -i "linux version"

I only see 4.7.6 like this:

Nov 01 10:42:55 carpet kernel: Linux version 4.7.6-1-default (geeko@buildhost)
(gcc version 6.2.1 20160830 [gcc-6-branch revision 239856] (SUSE Linux) ) #1
SMP Fri Sep 30 12:22:14 UTC 2016 (fb37fcc)

If I run "journalctl -b -1" I do not see any log for the failed boot, I only
see the previous boot of 4.7.6.

I have tried booting with a grub2 rescue disk too, but also it reboots.

The reboot occurs after the message 'Loading initial ramdisk ...'.

I should perhaps try a different kernel, or noinitrd?
