@Moritz do you happen to have a Tumbleweed client to test?

With a readonly root dir and a RW subdir, I can reproduce it on TW too, but
there, any writes fails. umount and df seems to work fine. Can you confirm that
please?

I'm basing my analysis on that, and a candidate patch will too.

I'm assuming these (TW vs Leap) have the same root cause for now.
