The arguments given in https://www.suse.com/documentation/sles-12/singlehtml/dockerquick/dockerquick.html#sec.docker.registry are weak. It is mentioned as a downside, that images on dockerhub are public. Considering leap, there should be an effort to make the images public. Redhat offers rhel6 and rhel7 images publically on docker hub. (All except registration manager credentials are there; it is easy to add one's credentials after 'docker pull rhel7')
