That shouldn't be a problem. It certainly isn't in Fedora, Mageia,
OpenMandriva, ROSA, Yocto, etc. using DNF.

The packaging here is clearly buggy and needs some cleanup to simplify and
rationalize the behavior.

Self-obsoletes are not okay...
