I have a very hard time seeing this as a GNOME bug... yes, gnome should likely
not segfault (that part is being addressed by upstream in the bug report) - if
possible at least throwing some useful stuff into the log files (on the display
will be hard, as it does not manage to start)

The issue rather clearly seems to be the NVidia RPM not working as intended
here.
