"having a separate script would make more sense to me".  The advantage of
having the button, or something similar makes the user aware that certain
functionality exists.  It would be really nice to be obtain a rescue boot ISO,
via an one click button...

I thought that grub2-mkrescue would do the trick, but that only provides a grub
environment ISO.
