I've had exactly the same problem on an HP GL360 Gen G4p server. It was (and is back) running Linux 4.8.14-1-default and hangs 'Loading initial ramdisk' with Linux 4.9.0-2-default that I'd recently upgraded to via 'zypper lu'.
