https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=844361 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=844361#c0 Summary: Airprint server set up using avahi- clients connect ok for some mins after a reboot then can't find the printer Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: HP OS/Version: openSUSE 12.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: john_82@tiscali.co.uk QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux x86_64) Presto/2.12.388 Version/12.16 I have set up avahi and cups on 12.3 to act as an airprint server for local iPads The iPads can find connect to and print for some time after a reboot of the "server". I would guess for maybe 10mins and definitely wont find it say 1hr after a reboot. Restarts don't help either. Server in bunny rabits as I have 12.3 desktop installation. I have a 64bit installation and all of the 64bit avhi files loaded as per listed by YAST. When an iPad fails to discover the printer the zeroconf browser shows it. If I use wireshark when an iPad is searching for a printer I can see the request and the responses but haven't managed to catch an instance when the iPad did connect. For some reason the iPad just ignores the responses. Problem is mentioned in several places on the web and seems to be long standing. 2ndry problem may as well mention here. Avahi config file offers the option to not publish the workstation - I assume the one it's running on - it still publishes it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Explained in details 2. 3. Actual Results: Printer discovery fails Expected Results: Having worked for a time with several ipads over the period it has worked should continue to work iPads are getting extremely popular and it's a useful facility that may be broken in respect to handling other services. If some one wants me to try something please be gentle and explicit. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
