What is the output of 

1. gsettings get org.gnome.brasero.config dao-flag

2. gsettings get org.gnome.brasero.config raw-flag

I have a feeling that I way back in time when I still used a dvd burner, I had
to set at least the dao-flag to true

(aka gsettings set org.gnome.brasero.config dao-flag true )

dao-flag ==
Whether to use the "-use-the-force-luke=dao" flag with growisofs. Set to false,
brasero won't use it; it may be a workaround for some drives/setups.

and 

raw-flag ==

Whether to use the "--driver generic-mmc-raw" flag with cdrdao. Set to True,
brasero will use it; it may be a workaround for some drives/setups.

There are a couple of more settings in there such as 

immed-flag
Whether to use the "-immed" flag with cdrecord. Use with caution (set to true)
as it's only a workaround for some drives/setups.

But I can't remember ever altering that, but hey, might be something for you.
