Yes, I would say the main benefit of your testing is that the kernel works correctly. And yes, I would expect a minor size reduction while the speed gain will be likely negligible. Note LTO can benefit much more from FDO (also supported by Kernel, which can be another interesting experiment we can do). Plus, we (as the GCC community) would like to be feature par with Clang. Note Andi Kleen started working on LTO support ~10 years ago. From SUSE perspective, the usage of LTO is not much interesting as it would make creation of live patches much more difficult.
