Thanks, that put me in the right track. I followed your advice, though I found
out later that I could have used the option --old-package of zypper install to
force the install of the older package.

I found that just changing xorg-x11-server was not enough, I also had to change
the other ones (server-extra and server-wayland). Now I finally have window
contents again. 

Also, that command to get the changelog still doesn't show the patch, but
things work now, so well ...

I put the bug in the FIXED state again, hopefully that's the right thing to do.
