Well, that's what I meant: It's not using our normal installation media which
create a well-defined environment for the upgrade process, it's using some
other media that contain whatever else.

Why would that ever work, and what would be the use case for it? When you need
to boot from something else than your normal root filesystem anyway, what's the
point of not using the right media to begin with?
